Q&A

Q: What happened to the old website?

A: The old website, www.libertytransitauthority.wordpress.com, was the original website which was dedicated to making bus routes and addressing transit for the fictional Liberty City in the Grand Theft Auto IV game. While the content was fantastic, the website became very unorganized due to it’s fashion, blog style. So, in an effort to make the website more accessible and organized the LTADB was created which features a “paged” style website while still using free WordPress software.

This website is free to use, free for me to run, and easy to get to the users. This reason makes the website successful, and I hope that you enjoy the new LTADB!

Q: What will happen to the old website?

A: The old website will slowly be phased out with the final act being that the website content will be “hidden” and a website linking guests to this website will be created. Based on improvements there is no longer any need for the old website.

Q: What should the website really look like? I have heard that resolution determines how well the site looks?

A: Resolution is a key factor in the organization and overall look of the website. The general rule of thumb is “the higher the resolution, the better the website will look”. This goes for many websites which have content which relies on width intensive applications. To change your resolution, go to the “Display” area of your Control Panel in Windows and you can move the slider to your desired resolution.

Low resolution will look like this (navigation bar) | High resolution will look like this (correct & accurate)

Q: Is this website free to use?

A: Yes! Everything on this website is free to use, please don’t repost anything without crediting and linking to the website, however.

Q: Can I download the routes on this website to my Xbox, Playstation, or PC and drive them with waypoints and map markers?

A: Unfortunately, no. This website gives you physical maps which you can use on your iPad, print, and use however you wish but at this time I don’t know of any way to do any adding of content into the game (and nor will I ever try to figure it out).

Q: What is going to happen to the URL www.libertytransitauthority.wordpress.com?

A: While this website will no longer be updated, it will remain in the LTA’s portfolio. This is a strong piece of real estate and we are not prepared to give it up. Who knows, one day it may come back as another service, but at this time it will no longer be updated and will link all guests who arrive at the site to the new website: www.ltadb.wordpress.com

Q: Why did you choose the URL www.ltadb.wordpress.com?

A: There are many reasons why we went with the shortened LTADB. Firstly, lta.wordpress.com is unavailable, and while preferred for the URL it could not be secured. Secondly, one of the most frustrating things is a long URL to type in. Thanks to this, the address is short and to the point. Thirdly, the original website was all over the place. It was meant to be a “customer” portal which people who drive buses could get information from but then turned into a “driver” centric operation. The LTADB is a completely driver centric operation; there are no consumer operations and is not geared to a NPC.

Q: Why do I have to type in “.wordpress.com” after LTADB or libertytransitauthority part of the address?

A: This website is free to use and more importantly for me is free to run. The website is courtesy of WordPress, the domain name is courtesy of WordPress as is the hosting and the tools which I use to create the website. In the future, I may purchase a domain name in the future and add it to the service at a cost to myself but at this time I will keep running the site as a free venture for everyone.

Q: Will anything change with my experience at the LTA websites?

A: Yes. The organization is the one very important thing which will change. The original website was a crazy mess of information, sometimes it was very difficult to find. Now, the organization is a top priority being filed under “pages” instead of posts. No longer will the page have to load the most recent 100 “posts” which can be very slow. Now you can navigate the new website through pages which are much more organized.

Q: Where can I see the results of the polls?

A: Feedback results can be found here under the new LTADB feedback tab.

Q: How can I access the new website?

A: You can access the new website at www.ltadb.wordpress.com. Please update your bookmarks!

Q: Woah, woah, woah! Wait a minute! Where are all of the old routes, destination signs, and information from the old website? Did you just delete it all?!

A: Don’t worry! I have it all saved on the old website. If you would like to access any of the old resources you can still do so from the old website address: www.libertytransitauthority.wordpress.com or click here!
